Electronic Music Workshop & Performance

She’s Speaking! is an immersive clarinet and interactive media performance that reanimates archival recordings of women’s voices, blending live music and technology to amplify silenced perspectives.

As part of the project, a free public workshop and demonstration will introduce participants to the creative process behind the piece, showing how acoustic instruments and electronic tools can interact in live performance.

The project culminates in a public performance that invites audiences to experience a technology-driven form of storytelling that amplifies women’s voices through sound.

This event is made possible (in part) with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts.

Solo 360 is presenting a FREE INTERACTIVE MUSIC WORKSHOP where you’ll explore how technology can transform live music!

See how computers can change sound in real time—using effects like echo (delay) and responding to how loud or soft music is played. Then, dive into Ableton Live and learn how artists trigger beats, loops, and sounds during performances.

Best of all, you’ll get hands-on experience experimenting with these tools yourself. The workshop also includes a live excerpt from She’s Speaking! by Ellen Fishman, performed by Medina, showing how music and technology come together in performance.

We kindly ask that a parent or guardian remain on-site with any child under 12yrs for the duration of the workshop.

*PLEASE NOTE: Stone Circle Theatre is not 100% accessible - there are stairs.

The session includes performance and discussion, demonstrations on how the clarinet’s sound can be extended, reshaped, and transformed through live digital processing.

Following the demonstration, participants will take part in a guided, hands-on activity where they can experiment with the same tools and hear the immediate results of their interactions.
